Here is the original info but the early capacity specs do not directly cross to modern batteries rated in CCA. Finding modern batteries to fit the old holders has been an issue for some. Group 31 and group 60/64s have both been used. It is reported the group 31 is a close fit to the tray but may be harder to find and 60/64 fits the tray well but needs shorter bolts for the hold down.

The Group 60/64 (Exide Classic series) doesn't need shorter hold down bolts, it's about the same height (and width) as the original Group 60. But it is shorter and does need a shortened hold down bracket (or some sort of spacer).

I was trying to make my modern battery look like an original battery.

The 55-6 Packard listing on the Antique Auto Battery website brings up a WIllard replica and the description says that battery had red caps. Doesn't mention anything for AutoLite.http://www.antiqueautobattery.com/batteries/other/60KW.html

Would an AutoLite battery have been original for 1956 Clipper too as opposed to the Willard?

According to the SC chart in post #2 the same batteries were used, or I would at least presume, would have been available on all models.
