VEHICLE HISTORY/
PROJECT STATUS:
This car was purchased by my partner, Glenn Thomas on 11/27/7 from R. W. Harbut in Madison, Conn. The car was prviously owned by Ruth Schindewolfe of 3 Terrace Grove, Great Neck, NY. Dr. Thomas drove the car as far as Central Nyak, NY where the transmission failed. Heleft the car in the care of Ray's Esso Service Center at Rt. 59 and Waldon Ave. where he also bought a new battery for the car (I have the charge ticket in my possession). When Dr. Thomas returned to Atlanta to make arrangements to get the car transported home, Ray's Esso could not be reached and attempts to find the car were unsuccessful. A query to the Vintage Car Store in Nyak in 1977 by me resulted in their saying that although the Nyack Police Dept. had been contacted, the situation was a purely civil matter and they could not pursue it. I assumed the car to be junked until I found it listed in the special Caribbean edition of The Cormorant where I was able to trace the car to two previous "owners" but not the current person with possession of the automobile. I was given power of attorney for the car and transferred the title to my name in South Carolina in July, 1988. I still hold the title today.
Vehicle Modifications
MODIFICATIONS:
When Dr. Thomas purchased the car a floorshifter had been installed to circumvent the ailing Ultramatic Pushbutton control. Please Note: The photograph shown on this site is of a similar Caribbean. It is NOT my car.
