VEHICLE HISTORY/
PROJECT STATUS:
The car was originally sold through SF Bay area Packard distributor Earle C. Anthony on Sept 2,1935. The first owner was apparently a farmer who willed the car to his minister in Spokane, WA in the early 195&rsquos. When the church moved the minister to another congregation in Eugene OR, the Packard went with him. It was there that the minister got to know Tony Splane who lived in Eugene at the time. The car began to develo
over-heating problems, and after several unsuccessful attempts at repair, the minister sold the car to Tony in the mid-196&rsquos. Tony knew what the problem was (a faulty water distribution plate) and was able to repair it easily. Tony drove the car for a few years, until in the late 196&rsquos his work took him overseas, and the Packard was put in storage. In 1972 on Tony&rsquos first home leave, he took the engine to Custom Automotive in LA for rebuilding. The rest of the car remained untouched until 1981 when Tony returned to the USA permanently. He then began an extensive complete restoration that was completed in 1989. Tony took the car to a number of shows, driving it about 3 miles after the restoration, including a ~1 miles CCCA road trip.

Due to illness, Tony decided to sell the car in 28 to a dealer named Tom Crook who resold it to John Spencer Bradley. John Spencer Bradley soon passed away and the car was sold to David Walters. David had the paint refreshened by Junior Conway of Junior&rsquos House of Color and had it detailed by Bill Larzelere. In 21 the car was auctioned at Pebble Beach by Gooding &am
Company. Rumor has it that it was purchased by someone who shipped it to China, however for some reason China did not allow it into the country. In the end it was shipped back to the US and re-auctioned in 214 at the Motor City Auction by RM Auctions where it was purchased by Mark Hyman, Hyman Ltd. and was resold in October 214 to Wyn Laidig.

The Model 124 Super-Eight Coupe Roadsters are fairly rare, especially those with the single spare tire in the rear. It seems that there are only eleven survivors with of the 859 style, of those, apparently only three have the rear spare tire.
