VEHICLE HISTORY/
PROJECT STATUS:

Purchased new in December of 1955 at Beckwith-Holmes Company Inc. (Motor Sales) in Tampa Florida(Grand Central & Magnolia avenues). Original owner was sister to dealership co-owner.

She lived in South Dakota and returned with the Clipper.  It remained there until 1979 when second owner aquired it with 36,000 miles.

Second owner lived in Minnesota and the car was there until I bought it in 1999. At the time it had 43,000 miles; currently it has about 46,000 miles.

Interesting fact(??)   This 1956 Clipper rolled off the assembly in November of 1955 and has the correct(for Clipper Custom) 352 V-8 engine yet serial number indicates that it's a 1955 engine.

Myself and mechanics have all looked closely and determined that if engine was replaced it was done "50 years ago"...furtheremore, I have met another Clipper Custom owner claiming to have "an original 1956" and his too has an EARLY BUILD DATE with an engine coded as 1955.

Was Packard(Studebaker-Packard by then) using up a few "left over 1955 352 engines" during their lauch of 1956 Clippers?

 -OR-

Do the two of us "Clipper guys" simply have  mis-matched serial numbers/codes because our engines WERE INDEED REPLACED?
