The "History of Dakota Territory" recently digitalized by Google Books has a listing for J Knapp Brown, an early auto dealer in Sioux Falls, SD. Brown came dealing for Franklin motor cars in 1910, three years after arriving in South Dakota. "In December, 1914, Knapp Brown & Co moved to their new fireproof garage building on Nonth Street."
