Historical Entry: (Added by: BigKev on 2010-04-16) |
It opened in 1926 as a Studebaker dealership at 49 Canal St. in Greenville--leased space in a multi-story building. They added Packard in 1941 and dropped them "around 1950" per Carl Jr. (known as 'Ed'), then picked them up again at the time of the Packard purchase of Studebaker.
Built, and moved to 43 South Race St location in 1947.
They sold Studebakers right through the end in 1966 and remained an authorized Studebaker Parts and Service dealer until Dec. 1968. At that point, the Chrysler-Plymouth-AMC dealer in town acquired the factory Studebaker Parts and Service dealer franchise until 1972.
