Some further pictures of a Model C engine. On the side image you can see the large counterweights of the crankshaft, and also the governor for the centrifugal spark advance (patent 667,792 of 2/12/1901). The crankcase is an "open" case; rings are oiled by an oiler on top of the cylinder and the excess oil that is below the rings just blows out the back (facing forward), making a tidy little mess to clean up after driving.
