The correct name for the First Series 1-36 Packard shown is SPORT MODEL, not "Pullman Sport." The Pullman Company in Chicago built a number of bodies for Packard in the pre-1925 era, one of which was called the "Sport Model." None of the Pullman bodies were identified by the name of their manufacturer. Pullman simply was a vendor who supplied bodies, and its products are not considered to be "custom" as are bodies by LeBaron, Dietrich, Derham, Rollston, Willoughby and others. When photos are posted on this site let's be sure the correct nomenclature is used.
The car pictured is the finest original 1-36 Sport Model in this country. Another original exists in Sydney, Australia, a right-drive version. |
