View of Herbert Middledorf and unidentified woman worker posing with "American ends with I can. Work to win!" sign. Label on back: "Packard News Service. For release May 16 or later. Machine operator's slogan speeds war engine output. Herbert Middledorf, machine operator producing parts for the Packard PT-boat engine pictured here, noticed the way the word "American" ends and suggested this inspiring slogan to help boost production of war engines. That all the Middledorfs practice what the father praches is proven by the family record. Two sons, William and James, are flying with the Army Air Corps, and the typically American mother (right) is also a Packard war worker. She inspects small parts for Packard-built Rolls-Royce aircraft engines." Handwritten on back: "Women workers."
