Re: 1914 Packard truck, left side view, parked on street ...
8x10 black and white Packard Co. file photograph of a 1914 Packard truck, left side view, enclosed back, partially enclosed front cab, side reads 'Quality Biscuit Co.,' parked in street next to building, sign on building reads 'W.S. Seaman Company Automobile Bodies.'
The "truck" is a Packard Six Model 38, either 1st or 2nd series (3rd got completely electric lighting). As the car is pictured in front of the W. S. Seaman Co., and this is a picture from the Packard archive, it is a sure guess that Seaman built this body or at least did the conversion. Seaman carriages, automobile and truck bodies were built from 1847-1936, but the company was named the W. S. Seaman Co. from 1881-1919 only. At the time the picture was shot they were located on Virginia Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Seaman built full-customs for many makes including Packard as well as truck bodies. It was later controlled by Jeffery and taken over completely by Nash. |
