7.5x9.5 black and white Packard Co. file photograph of a 1949 Packard three-quarter front right view, couple in front seat, on dirt road, coming alongside 1899 Packard model A with two occupants. Photo caption on back from Packard News Service: 'Oh! What's that car?' cries the surprised lady in Model A, the first Packard built in 1899, as the new Golden Anniversary super speeds past its ancient counterpart on a side road at the Packard Proving Grounds near Detroit, Mich., the couples seem to be gasping at the fifty years of progress shown by the two cars, Model A still travels under its own power and is preserved in the engineering laboratory at Lehigh University, the alma mater of James Ward Packard, founder of the Packard automotive tradition and builder of Model A. Item # EB01e338 Photo courtesy of the Detroit Public Library, National Automotive History Collection and used with permission. Reproduction Permission Form and Price List |
