8x10 black and white Packard Co. file photograph of a 1957 Packard station wagon, three-quarter rear view, female standing at rear passenger side. Photo caption on back from unidentified Packard source: The Packard Clipper station wagon, first such body type for Packard since 1950, will be introduced in dealer showrooms across the nation beginning Thursday, January 24, the 4-door model combines passenger car performance and luxury appointments, in keeping with Packard's fine car tradition, with a 65-cubic foot load carrying capacity, the station wagon will offer 15 percent better performance with a 275-horsepower V-8 engine equipped with a supercharger, advanced engineering features which are exclusive in the medium priced field for 1957 include the super charger and automatic transmission as standard equipment, and the twin traction differential as optional equipment, this differential, pioneered by Packard in 1956, automatically compensates for driving conditions on icy, muddy, or slippery roads by transferring the major engine driving power to the rear wheel having the best traction.
