8x10 black and white Packard Co. file photograph of a 1957 Packard Clipper sedan, three-quarter front left view. Photo caption on back from unidentified Packard source the 1957 Packard Clipper 4-door sedan previews at the New York Automobile Show December 8, it will be introduced by Packard dealers in mid January along with a 4-door station wagon, the new and different Packard Clipper is two inches lower, 300 pounds lighter and 20 percent better in acceleration and performance than previous Packard Clipper cars, engineering details are being with held until dealership introduction time, representing a major move toward parts and body interchangeability, a 2-year goal of the company, the new Packard Clippers are the first to be made in South Bend, Indiana, following the company's consolidation of all automobile manufacturing there, the pioneer auto company will concentrate its Packard program for 1957 in the medium priced field which has accounted for 80 percent of Packard sales during the last two years. Photo caption on back from Packard News Service 1948 Packard, beautiful but strong too, in its development, the just announced 1948 Packard super eight convertible endured every conceivable maltreatment at the Packard Proving Grounds, included among the tests was a continuous high-speed run in of its new 145-horsepower straight eight engine the equivalent of a year's normal mileage, the upholstery is sturdy Bedford cord and a new plastic that has the look and feel of leather but even greater durability, with schedules specifying quantity production in June, the new convertible will supplement the present Clipper line.
