Photo caption on back from unidentified Packard source: The Packard Clipper station wagon, first such body type for Packard since 1950, will be introduced in dealer showrooms across the nation beginning Thursday, January 24, the 4-door model combines passenger car performance and luxury appointments, in keeping with Packard's fine car tradition, with a 65-cubic foot load carrying capacity, the station wagon will offer 15 percent better performance with a 275-horsepower V-8 engine equipped with a supercharger, advanced engineering features which are exclusive in the medium priced field for 1957 include the super charger and automatic transmission as standard equipment, and the twin traction differential as optional equipment, this differential, pioneered by Packard in 1956, automatically compensates for driving conditions on icy, muddy, or slippery roads by transferring the major engine driving power to the rear wheel having the best traction. Photo caption on back from unidentified Packard source the 1957 Packard Clipper 4-door sedan previews at the New York Automobile Show December 8, it will be introduced by Packard dealers in mid January along with a 4-door station wagon, the new and different Packard Clipper is two inches lower, 300 pounds lighter and 20 percent better in acceleration and performance than previous Packard Clipper cars, engineering details are being with held until dealership introduction time, representing a major move toward parts and body interchangeability, a 2-year goal of the company, the new Packard Clippers are the first to be made in South Bend, Indiana, following the company's consolidation of all automobile manufacturing there, the pioneer auto company will concentrate its Packard program for 1957 in the medium priced field which has accounted for 80 percent of Packard sales during the last two years. Photo caption on back from unidentified Packard source The 1957 Packard Clipper 4-door sedan 2-inches lower than last year's models and offering the best performance and handling characteristics in company history, will be demonstrated by Studebaker-Packard dealers across the country beginning Thursday, January 24, the new car, the first Packard Clipper to be made in South Bend, Indiana, following consolidation of all company automobile manufacturing there, will be powered by a 275-horsepower V-8 engine equipped with a supercharger, in addition to the supercharger, the Packard Clippers will be the only medium priced American cars to have automatic transmission as standard equipment and the twin traction power dividing axel as optional equipment, another exclusive engineering feature will be the new variable rate front springing which has the advantage of soft springing on smooth roads and stiffer springing on rough roads.
