7.5x9.5 black and white Packard Co. file photograph of a 1949 Packard left side view, driving up steep hill, male behind wheel. Photo caption on back from Packard News Service: 'Hung' on a 38-degree hill, without application of foot or hand breaks, is this new Golden Anniversary Packard custom equipped with ultramatic drive, the industry's newest 'no shift' drive, power transmitted to the rear wheels through the torque converter holds the car motionless, then by merely pushing the accelerator, the car climbs easily over the tip, this unique measure assures the driver responsive control in traveling over hilly terrain, negotiating railroad up grade crossing and similar traffic conditions.

7.5x9.5 black and white Packard Co. file photograph of a 1949 Packard three-quarter front right view, couple in front seat, on dirt road, coming alongside 1899 Packard model A with two occupants. Photo caption on back from Packard News Service: 'Oh! What's that car?' cries the surprised lady in Model A, the first Packard built in 1899, as the new Golden Anniversary super speeds past its ancient counterpart on a side road at the Packard Proving Grounds near Detroit, Mich., the couples seem to be gasping at the fifty years of progress shown by the two cars, Model A still travels under its own power and is preserved in the engineering laboratory at Lehigh University, the alma mater of James Ward Packard, founder of the Packard automotive tradition and builder of Model A.
