8x10 black and white photograph of first Packard. Inscribed on photo back; driven on campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. after car was shipped there in autumn of a 1930 for permanent exhibition in lobby of the James Ward Packard Laboratory of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering. Car is 1-cylinder, 9-horsepower, 71.5-inch wheelbase, 2-person roadster completed Nov. 6, 1899. Body by Morgan & Williams, Warren, Ohio. The restored car has a solid engine compartment door (original had louvers) and is missing original fittings such as side lamps, lamp attached to center of front cross springs, and dos-a-dos seat mounted on rear deck. 8x10 black and white photograph of Packard Number One with woman, parked in front of the manager's quarters (a.k.a. the Lodge), designed by Albert Kahn, at the Packard Proving Grounds. Inscribed on photo back; car completed Nov. 6, 1899, Warren Ohio; Model A, 1-cylinder, 9-horsepower, 71.5-inch wheelbase, 2-person roadster; body by Morgan & Williams, carriage manufacturer, Warren, Ohio. Restored car has solid engine compartment door, vs. louvered door of original, and is missing original fittings such as side lights & the one affixed to the center of the front springs, and the dos-a-dos seat originally mounted on the rear deck. 8x10 black and white Packard Co. file photograph, from copy neg. of glass neg., of 1899 Packard Model A Number Two. Inscribed on photo back; 1-cylinder, 9-horsepower, 71.5-inch wheelbase 2-person roadster with carriage top, body by Morgan & Williams, carriage manufacturer, Warren, Ohio. This deluxe Model A was built for William Doud Packard who used the car for about a year and is said to have driven the car as far as Lakewood, N.Y. The car featured a wood panel dash on the back side which was a compartment for tools & packages, the top fitted with a cushioned top, and surrounded on three sides by a brass rail. W.D. Packard's son Warren recalled that at about age 9 he would perch on this seat and hang on tight to avoid going over backwards. All 5 Model A Packards were either completed or under construction in 1899 and all considered to be 1899 Packards.
