1940, 120-1801 Distribution tube?

Just bought a real nice 1801-120 touring sedan.
I will have it in the registery asap with photo.
Curious...Does the 282 straight 8 have a coolant distribution tube, as in the later forties models with a 327?
Also, if the engine is low milage and has never been rebuilt, is there any reason to add a lead additive within the oil?
I do have some for the gas.
