It looks like this wouldn't be as easy as I was hoping for.

I've found out that there are adapters available to modify some other overdrive unit so that it has a U-Joint on the front. This will require two drive shafts of course. A company in El Cajon, CA does this installation work, but they are very expensive. Has anyone done this modification?

By the way, I did do a search on "transmission" and "overdrive", but I couldn't find any info that applied to my situation.

We are still in the process of restoring our '38 Packard. We just had the engine rebuilt, and now it is in running condition. Most of the body parts are still removed from the body. We still need to do some rust repair and bodywork. Then, we have to get some parts re-chrome plated, get it painted, get it upholstered, etc.
