The introduction of the Coat of Arms and Crest of the old English Packard family was adopted by the Packard Company in 1930, as a mark of respect to the passing of James Ward and William Packard. In the language of Ancient Heraldry, the Crest is described as......."Gules, a cross lozengy between 4 roses or. A Pelican in her piety"
The full explanation is shown on this Packard Advertisement.
