The engine looks like a 356, and most people faking these usually install a 356 engine. As mentioned, the one thing that is rarely, if not always omitted is the correct vent window operation.

While I'm not against putting a replica serial number plate on a restored car (I would never do it), I would be VERY suspect of a car's authenticity if the original were not provided with the car. How hard is it to throw it in the glove box, just in case someone questions you. A car that is well-known for fakes, you'd be shooting yourself in the foot by not providing as much original info as possible.
