West, Back in the early 1990's "Car Collector and Car Classics" magazine did a feature story and centrefold picture of a 1942 Clipper 180. I looked through my magazine collection but was not able to locate the issue. The car did have a set of bumper extensions. This is a photo from the article I got from the internet. I hope your dad doesn't mind 
I think that this style of extension was a one year only accessory since the pattern changed postwar and I have never seen another Packard with them except the one in the article which I believe was judged a 100 point car at the time the article was written. Sorry about the poor quality of the photo.
