The photo below is of a '39 Six engine and manifolds which I'll assume(I know, I know - never assume
) are the same as used on a '38. It shows a clamp on the outermost stud which bears on both the intake and exhaust manifolds. Is this what you were looking for?
And to my mind it also raises questions. 1) Is there a clamping surface on the '37 inlet manifold? 2) Or do you also need a '38 inlet manifold to get that clamping surface?
