IGT 4203 was used in the 356 engine from 1942 thru 1950 and has the same full mechanical and vacuum advance specifications as your OEM distributor.

EDITED to ADD: Any distributor that is physically compatible can always have its centrifugal and vacuum advance characteristics altered to meet the needs of the engine.
