1937 dash trim color

I have a 1937 120-C. I'm thinking this is original. The color that's painted within the metal trim. I got this all rechromed, so this is a before picture. I've seen pictures online where some just leave it all chrome without repainting, I've seen some pictures where they just repainted inside the larger center groove. My question is, is my picture the way it should be painted? And also it may look like it's a darker color than the clock inner gray color. Would it be the same color as the inner color inside the clock to match or is it indeed a black color? Thanks in advance.
