I've generally not found it necessary to ream new guides after installation but checking the clearances after install will tell you whether or not it's needed. Keep in mind that a component of the total clearance may be wear on the valve stem if used valves are being reused. If the stem wear has resulted in an actual "step" on the stem that you can feel with your fingernail, I recommend replacing the valve with new.

With new guides installed, you should resurface the seats to insure they are concentric with the new guide. A power seat resurfacer preferred.
