Bob J, hopefully you can help me out. I'm currently restoring all my windows, window frames etc. Don't know if you restored your own vent/door window frames. But I'm currently putting my vent window together and am about to install the rigid run channel. The pieces I have can run from top all the way to the bottom (pictured with yellow highlight) My question is, is the protruding metal piece (red arrow) needed. I know it was originally covered with felt but if the rigid run channel covers the whole channel area, is this protruding piece needed? Will leaving it there cause the door frame to possibly rub or bang against it? Or does it need to be removed? Thanks. Hopefully I was clear enough in my explanation.
