Ahooga Horn

My 1930 7-45 has what appears to be the original horn.

I am always disappointed that the sound is not the "traditional" Ahooga! sound that one associates with the era.

Silly question maybe but what sound did the horn make when new. It occured to me that if the orginal mechanism broke it may have been replaced with a more modern sounder inside the casing.

What would you think about changing the innards so that it makes the Ahooga! sound? Sacrilage or not?
