1941 Packard 110 Gear Shifter Lever Broken -- HELP!

Shifting from first into reverse, my shift lever snapped in half and I am having a heck of a time locating a replacement.

Does anyone know if the metal this arm is made of (obviously very brittle!) can be welded? If not, any ideas where I can find a shift lever to fit a '41 110? The column mechanism is unaffected, just the actual lever has snapped.
