Re: Fake or Find?

The 36 Victoria is probably legitimate. Turnquist had a 38 that had V-12 trim and it was original. The body may have been switched by a dealer to sell a V-12 sedan, or the switch may have been made at the factory.

The bodies are interchangible and Packard had a body exchange program whereby dealers could swap bodies among each other to sell cars.

The only reason I can see for a non-period swap to be made is that, back in the old days, the Eight was an easier car to keep running.

I saw a 35 Super 8 Victoria with a V-12 steering wheel and interior trim, and that car was original.

Also, note the dealer. Packard Motor Car Company of New York City was a factory owned dealer I believe.
