You are correct with your instructions.
I recently removed all my inside and outside handles of my 115-C, so I could do some cleaning and polishing in the comfort of my basement work shop rather than my unheated Artic Vortex located garage. I did not want to worry about damaging the door panels with any metal cleaning products.
All the inside handles have a large tension spring behind the bezel, between the back of the door panel and the door frame to facilitate the pressure of pushing the bezel in.
I was really surprised how easy it was.
