Engine starting problem

I am trying to start my 38 engine for the first time after a rebuild. All ignition parts are new. I have a strong spark at the points. I have removed a spark plug with the plug wire attached and cranked the engine and I see not spark at all. I also installed a new coil and also tried to start it with the existing coil. What could I be overlooking.
