Actually Packard didn't go to true "full flow" oil filtration until 1934, the Purolator EF-2 unit used before then was a by-pass installation. And the full-flow filtration was used thru 1939 only on the "senior" engines and discontinued after 1939. When it was introduced in 1934 it included some other changes, the oil cooler with the L-6 (and later L-8) disposable Purolator cartridge filters and finned rod bearing caps, revised oil galleys and pressure relief valve incorporating a 2nd relief valve for the filter, etc.
