Uncommon but not unheard of to find a 14th series senior that started life as a 12th series and went unsold; the factory updated the nose and any other small details, provided a new patent plate and VN, etc. and sold it the following year as a current model. This practice occurred several times that I'm aware of, especially with the less-common body styles, with Twelves and at least once with a Super Eight. The major clue is the theft-proof or body serial number in relation to the vehicle number.

Sal Saiya's '36 Twelve Victoria which recently took AACA's Joseph Parkin award started life as a '35; we didn't realize it until we found the Dietrich number plate which dated it as a 1935 body, the theft-proof number provided confirmation.
