The air pump fuel mechanism on the front of the engine has to be removed. From there you have to undo the nut and items that spin the air pump at the end of the generator shaft. The generator shaft goes through a sprocket that is driven off of the timing chain. There is a woodruff key that must be removed from the generator shaft so the generator can be pulled back from the front of the engine.

I also believe there are 3 bolts that are bolted to the generator from underneath the engine pan that need to be removed.
