The part definitely came off the backing plate, and I believe is somewhere around the eccentric at the top

As for the flat spring, unit is not fully assembled yet and is "loose". Trying to also figure out why the cross bar seems short, hence the "loose" spring, yet shoes are exactly the same as the old ones. Suspect something with the parking brake cabling will draw this tighter, I hope !
