Thanks for the reply. Car number is 3819. Delivered 7/31/37. After a bunch of research and your help, the holes appear to be rivet holes that have been drilled out. I checked the passenger side and it has the same four rivets. They cannot be seen from the post side, only from the back where they are pinned over. I also found that the cage nut that holds the shoulder bolt for the top irons was replaced on that side. Looks like someone tried to access the nut via taking the post assembly apart. Thanks again.
