I did the steering wheel myself, it wasn't hard and seems to be holding up well. The wheel was in pretty good shape to start with just having some cracks in it. I "V"ground the cracked areas, mixed up some JB Weld and put on, sanded it when dry. Then I epoxy primered the wheel and shot a base coat / clear coat on it, it turned out pretty nice, I also re painted the horn button at the same time.
