Using the various methods suggested, I was able to remove all of the pipe plugs feeding the cam bearings. First of all, I soaked the plugs with PB Blaster for about a week. Secondly, I used a Mapp torch on each one. The final approach was to use an impact screwdriver. The plugs were soft and fortunately broke loose before the slots were completely deformed.
BTW, I tried the wax suggestion and it performed as well as the ones with the PB Blaster.

Unfortunately, The two main plugs in the ends of the oil gallery will have to be drilled out. They have a 3/8" female square that is very shallow. I'm not sure how the factory planned on removing these, but they are only about 1/8" deep. I'm not aware of any tool that will remove these.
