1941 120 282 valves seat angle not right

I am redoing the valves on my 1941 120 282 engine. My factory motor manual says the exhaust valve angle is 45 degrees and the intakes are 30degrees. I agree with the exhaust, but the intakes ride way to high. Max Merritt says the intake valves are 60 degrees. Do I cut that much material off the valve seats?
