There were some wild schemes in California. W.R. Hearst bought a pink and purple Duesenberg for example. However, unless the car is painted black I would be suspicious of any claims to originality. At least they got the firewall color correct.
Old car sales claims are like a wife getting frisky for no reason. Suspect she's been having an affair with the exterminator.
