I think that was a running change as the little tube was there to help the vacuum tank gravity feed; not necessary with the fuel pump.

However, the unit is missing the little decorative cover as shown below. Most were thrown in the garbage.

I'm surprised Jack Nethercutt didn't have that correct. I can't remember if Bob Turnquist's car had it. Somewhere around here I think I have pictures that would show if it did. Just to check if Turnquist was that picky given the motor color was horrendously wrong and never fixed.
