Interestingly, AC and Champion have the same DNA, with Albert Champion starting Champion in 1905. He got tired of having little input into the company so by 1908 he approached William Durant who ran GM at the time and together they started a new company to make plugs for Buick. At first they tried to use the Champion name on the new plugs but that was stopped by the original firm so they just took Albert's initial and carried on as AC.
