Am not a prewar guy so don't have much to offer but am curious about this item. In spite of 37 being mentioned as the highest production year, how much demand is there for something that only fits some models from that single year and what is the failure point.

Another question is how much physical difference is there with the size or pattern on the actual bezel or length of shaft between the various years and models. If there is none or an almost indiscernible difference between some models or years perhaps the bezel and shaft only from this run could also be made available separately. A buyer with another year could add a knob from an independent source. Perhaps a minor CAD change could also make a different bezel also feasible.

Lavine lists plastic knobs for 40-42 models but shows nothing earlier. Some of their plastic knobs mention having a metal insert but no details on what would be needed for mounting them. Perhaps something universal could be worked out for these shafts to accommodate them. If the 39 and earlier knobs are metal knobs with the difference only being shape then finding those could be an issue unless perhaps something along a separate repro run of knobs only could be considered.
