Re: 1929 Generator

My parts book says that there were three generators used for the 626/633/640/645 models. They were the CD-777, CD-800 and CD-840. It mentions that the CD-800 differs from the CD-777 only in the cutout and cutout mounting. It doesn't say what the difference between the CD-840 is and the others. It shows that the field coil OD23111 was used for the 800 and 840, but is unclear on whether the same was used for the 777. There is a field coil shown as OD 22760, but not its application.

I have three generators, 2 CD-840s and one CD-678, which is shown as applying to 2nd, 3rd and 4th series cars. It used an OD22433 field coil.

I have looked locally for a shop that can rewind field coils to no avail. Don't want to cannibalize one of the generators unless absolutely necessary. Can you give me contact info for a shop that can do it?

Thanks,

Jim Wayman
