Looks like your correct with the points,make sure that the lead wires don't ground out in the distributor.
While you have the ditsributor out -you can check spark to all the secondary components.Run a jump wire from the engine block to the distributor housing and re-connect the dist to coil wire. With the spark plugs removed and properly grounded you should be able to see all 8 firing with a spin of the dist shaft with the ignition on. Note- don't touch the wire from the coil to the points- its painful.

Don't trust solid core wires, they will disapoint you.
Your local auto parts should carry all your tune up needs,I use the Napa Auto around the corner.Delco or Autolite parts are very common through the years.
