When someone would ask to list the ten largest countries on earth, then it is to be feared that Kazakhstan as one of the successor states of the Soviet Union would be forgotten to mention.
Wikipedia says:
"...Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked country by land area and the ninth largest country in the world...".
At the end of the 1980s I was there by train and when the rails ended in the desert I continued the trip another 500 miles by track vehicle. But there was nothing and meanwhile I believe, it would not have taken much to reach the end of the earth.
But life is changing. Let's listen to Wikipedia again:
"...Kazakhstan has the largest and strongest performing economy in Central Asia. Supported by rising oil output and prices, Kazakhstan's economy grew at an average of 8% per year over the past decade. Kazakhstan was the first former Soviet Republic to repay all of its debt to the International Monetary Fund, 7 years ahead of schedule..." The macro-economic development is mirrored in growing personal assets. The below shown car and other vehicles of a Packard collection are up for sale in Kazakhstan.
