Re: Is it overpriced?

Having owned, maintained and driven the same year, chassis (1100) and body style (703) just a few numbers earlier than that one for 48 years, I took a close look at that vehicle this morning. I could give you a lot of information on that make and model. PM me with your phone# is you want to chat about it privately.

In a nutshell, with the shortest wheelbase of the model year, they are a delight to drive; very easy steering, superb brakes, an excellent ride considering a beam axle. Downside if there is one (depends on how you want to use the car) is the 4.69 rear axle which gives a comfortable max highway speed for sustained driving of about 50 mph. Putting in a high speed rear is a mixed bag, it's a lot of weight and only 120 hp so you'll find yourself downshifting on many modest inclines you used to breeze over in 3rd.

The particular car looks quite nice; of course there are a few things that are not quite correct but such things are likely to found in all but the very best restorations. For example, rug bindings, pin striping pattern & color. But overall I think it looks quite lovely in nice (can't tell if they are OEM) colors. Don't understand the mechanical fuel pump bypass, these cars are pretty much immune to vapor lock. If the engine passes a careful muster I'd say it's not an unreasonable price.
