Really doubt that its not a line installed by the mfg.
Drawing states for the su8 :

ABOUT 3/64 WIDE AROUND ALL
UNETCHED SUFACES
FOR PC. #213866-*

Area for the harringbone or whatever states:
BACKGROUND TO ETCHED AS SHOWN AND
COLORED DARK BROWN, ETCHING TO APPROX.
.005 DEEP FOR PC. #213888-*
The "AS SHOWN" area shows the harringbone pattern.
