When I purchased my 1937 120 Convertible Coupe it had never been restored. The front compartment had a rubber mat in it (which I recorded the pattern of on a piece of paper before I tore it out), and the rumble seat area also had a rubber mat. When I reupholstered the car I added carpeting in both areas, right or wrong that is what I wanted.
