I just looked at mine and they are what I would call the 5/16 on the bottom. I made my own out of Flexane but was pretty careful to make things the same thickness as the originals as near as I could determine.

One thing I did notice is the added shim washers on mine. The manual says quantity X so that means as needed. Both sides have 3 on top so with the 3/8 (or 1/2) that would bring things up close to the 3/4 total for that top side spacing. That plus the metal thicknesses and bottom cushion brings the total close to what is usable on the steel bolt spacer. 3/4 on the bottom might be too thick. I don't think the bottom thickness is too critical because the frame is there. All you are doing is absorbing a bit of shock.
