One can only hope. Not many would want to spend $1500 for the real things on ebay. I'll bet that seller is still smiling.

I see where an "inexpensive" by previous standards 3d printer is now available and for sale. Staples is going to carry it. There is another company which has shown an even lower cost unit. Their printer has a waiting list but the verdict is still out on how good the quality for the price.

The same company is also working on a companion low cost 3d scanner. If it's decent quality scans, once that hits the market then it's a matter of getting the proper heat tolerant resins for a dash item that will be exposed to the sun. If they can already make working pistols with a 3d printer then one would think scanning and printing an AC vent would be practice material.
